When we left our home, it was dying.
Blue skies, vast oceans, and green trees..All a thing of the past.
Gliese 163 c was our destination, 48.9 LYs there 48.9 LYs back.
The estimated mission duration was at around 115 years with a five year total awake time.
Such a longtime to sleep.
Our mission was a failure.
All we found was a dead world. Harsh and unforgiving.
So, with heavy heads.. we left.
Such a long time to sleep.
You don't dream in suspension..
It's like you just exist in a moment of silence.
None of us spoke during the last few hours before we departed for Home.
A quiet suffocation gripping the crew.
When we awoke. our minds could not comprehend what we saw.
Earth...Alive..So teeming with life.
So blue and serene.
Our hearts sang with joy.
Communications flickering to life with the most blissful of words.
"Welcome Home."
